Forbidden Communications
Richard Joseph
In looking at the
commandments of Christ, I came to an all too familiar passage in the bible;
that quite frankly, I had not understood for decades of my walk. In looking at the passage now it seems almost
embarrassing that I was unable to fathom the meaning of the terms; Evil
Communications, Corrupt Communications and Filthy Communications.
I can clearly remember repeatedly
puzzling over the meaning of these phrases as I examined them in Greek. And yet the key to understanding these
passages was all the time in plain sight.
I share these things to
encourage you that you might look to the Lord and seek after Him in all your
times of bible study. The Holy Ghost is
the Spirit of truth that has been charged with the duty of being our personal teacher,
and to personally and individually lead us unto all truth, even the secret and
deep things of God.
Mark 7:21-23 For from within, out of the heart of man, proceed
evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts covetousness,
wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil
eye Gr. Opthalmos
Poneros -- Poneria Poneros Note this word bears some
similarity to Fornication Gr. Pornos. Whereas Pornos
is the act of having non-adulterous sex (Fornication). Poneros here is done with the eyes so it is sexually
suggestive looks [A
prostitute or a fornicator taking one with their eyes] Poneros can also be looking down in disgust with one’s eyes or facial
expression. Or Pomeros could also include the rolling of one’s eyes in belittlement of another.) blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these
things come from within and defile the man,
In the following passages Evil. Corrupt, and Filthy Communications – are Christians specifically speaking of commiting such sins, or speaking in a manner that draws attention to entice others into partaking of such sins as cited above in: Mark 7:21-22. Adultery, fornication, murder, theft, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, making sexual suggestions or mocking with one’s eyes, blasphemy, pride and foolishness – All these things come from within and defile the man (And to his hearers. [Jesus two-fold child of hell principal] This is far more destructive than the tale bearer, as this is in large part what Paul in the book of Acts describes as "devouring wolves" that are hid within the church.)
1 Corinthians 15:33 Be not deceived
evil communications corrupt good
manners.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed from
your mouth but that which is good to the use of edifying that it may minister
grace unto the hearers.
Colossians 3:8 But now ye put
off all of these anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy
communication out of your mouth.
From these three passages we can see that this was a deadly but common malady in the early church, even under the watchful eye of the Apostles. Almost two thousand years later these deadly roots yet remain and continue to spread their poison and defilement in the church destroying hundreds if not thousands of believers daily. – More troubling is that has not been an apostle or prophet in this end time that has risen to cast out, and root out these hidden foxes that spoil the vines in the vineyard.
These are desperate days and desperate hours in which the blind lead the blind.
